Cup profile

Pink Bourbon is a washed specialty lot from Quebraditas, Oporapa, Huila, grown at 1800 m and scored 88 points. In the cup: caramel, chocolate, lavender, cinnamon, citronella.

About the variety

Pink Bourbon was first found in Huila and has pink cherries. Despite the name, genetic studies link it to Ethiopian landraces rather than classic Bourbon, which explains its floral, juicy profile.

Where it grows

Huila, in the south of Colombia, sits between the Central and Eastern Andes around the headwaters of the Magdalena River. It is the country's largest coffee-producing department and the home of many of its best-known specialty lots. Quebraditas farm sits at 1800 m in Oporapa.

Processing

Washed: the cherries are depulped, fermented to loosen the mucilage, washed and dried. This gives clean, bright cups that show the variety and terroir clearly.

Co-fermented: the producer adds cultures or fruit during fermentation to shape the profile. Details for each lot come with the samples.
