Cup profile

Red Bourbon is a washed specialty lot from Las Flores, Acevedo, Huila, grown at 1750 m and scored 88 points. In the cup: starfruit, tangerine, red apple, pomegranate, vanilla.

About the variety

Bourbon takes its name from Bourbon Island (today Réunion), where French missionaries planted it in the 18th century. Red Bourbon is the classic form: sweet, balanced and full-bodied.

Where it grows

Huila, in the south of Colombia, sits between the Central and Eastern Andes around the headwaters of the Magdalena River. It is the country's largest coffee-producing department and the home of many of its best-known specialty lots. Las Flores farm sits at 1750 m in Acevedo.

Processing

Washed: the cherries are depulped, fermented to loosen the mucilage, washed and dried. This gives clean, bright cups that show the variety and terroir clearly.

Co-fermented: the producer adds cultures or fruit during fermentation to shape the profile. Details for each lot come with the samples.
