Cup profile
Geisha is a washed specialty lot from El Cerro, Quinchía, Risaralda, grown at 1950 m and scored 88 points. In the cup: lemon, coffee blossom, chocolate, panela, red grapes, lemongrass.
About the variety
Gesha (also spelled Geisha) is an Ethiopian landrace that became famous in Panama in the early 2000s. It is prized for jasmine-like florals, bergamot and a tea-like body, and Colombia was among the first countries outside Panama to grow it.
Where it grows
Risaralda is part of Colombia's Coffee Axis (Eje Cafetero), the historic heart of the country's coffee culture. El Cerro farm sits at 1950 m in Quinchía.
Processing
Washed: the cherries are depulped, fermented to loosen the mucilage, washed and dried. This gives clean, bright cups that show the variety and terroir clearly.
The lot was fermented only with its own microorganisms, with nothing added.
